RTÜK vs Kızılcık Şerbeti

According to the news, Radio and Television Supreme Council of Türkiye (RTÜK) has suspended Show TV’s drama series Kızılcık Şerbeti for 5 weeks and imposed a fine of 1.5 million TL due to scenes of violence against women and forced marriage.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council of Turkey (RTUK) has suspended Show TV’s breakout series Kızılcık Şerbeti for five weeks for “promoting violence against women” following a scene from the 18th episode of the series that aired on March 10. In the scene, the character Nursema is thrown outside a window by her new husband, who she was forced to marry just hours before. The scene highlights the plight of many women in Turkey, four out of ten of whom have suffered physical and/or sexual violence during their lives. Fans of the series have taken to social media to protest RTUK’s biased action and selective censorship.b
Kızılcık Şerbeti is a Turkish TV series about two families that are not at all alike and have different perspectives on life. It tells about the fact that the children of the two families in question have to be together for their marriage and happiness, and the difficulties that this brings1. The series is directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin and written by Meriç Acemi2.
